Thermal Imaging

Thermography is the use of thermal imaging technology to provide evidence of the thermal performance of a building. It is based on photographs taken with a thermal imaging camera, which represent temperature and heat loss in order to improve energy efficiency and increase thermal comfort.
Use of thermal imaging cameras can identify heat loss to minimise cold bridging, inconsistencies in insulation and air leakage.
As well as helping to ensure new buildings have been constructed properly, thermal imaging can act as a useful communication tool in identifying energy saving opportunities in existing properties.

Thermographic assessments can help with the following:

  • Identify areas of heat loss in order to improve energy efficiency
  • Water leaks
  • Electrical and mechanical faults which might cause overheating
  • Faults in mechanical components, including overheating
  • Communicate the benefit of energy efficiency improvements using ‘before and after’ imaging.
